Amechi Kenneth Ikechukwu Wrongly Accused of Rape and Kidnapping- Ghana Police

Mr. Amechi Kenneth Ikechukwu  has been released unconditionally and freed from the charges of Rape and Kidnapping which he was wrongly accused of on 25th of June when the members of Ghanaian Police mistakenly included him among the suspected culprits of the case  which went viral on the 27th of June 2017 with the caption ” 6 Nigerians arrested for alleged rape and Kidnapping ” as published by  Daily Graphic , other mainstream media in Ghana and beyond  had the story on their platform.

Hearing of his unconditional release from the case we invited Mr .Amechi Kenneth Ikechukwu to our office for a brief media chat.  Mr. Amechi Kenneth doesn’t stay in the house at Ashaley Botwe where the issue happened, but rather  went there to see a distant relative few minutes  before the police swooped in and mistook him for an occupant of the house.

The police investigation report on the case written on 6th of July and signed by Superintendent  Solomon Aboninga Ayawine of the Accra Regional Police Command stated that suspect Amechi Kenneth  Ikechukwu was found not to be involved in the Crime.

The other 5 Nigerians  accused  on the issue still maintain that they are Innocent of the crime of kidnapping and rape accused them of and will return to court on the 19th of this month for further hearing on the issue.
