In less than 48hours after presenting his letter of credence to President Nana Akuffo Addo of Ghana at the flagstaff house in Accra, he commenced operation fully by paying an un-announced visit to the Nigerians Union of Traders Association in Ghana (NUTAG) at their 6th National Council meeting at the Grandview Hotel in Accra.
Amb. Olufemi Michael Abikoye in his short address to the NUTAG Executive council that President Nana Akuffo Addo has interest of Nigerians in Ghana at heart but cautioned that we should equally abide with the rules and regulations of Ghana at all time, the Ambassador praised the NUTAG Executive Council for their hard work in Ghana and encouraged them to keep going strong.
“Every Nigerian living and doing business in Ghana are like farmers who left their home to the farmland for cultivation and expecting good harvest from his farm produce, this means we are here to find our daily bread and also to take some back home. we need to be law abiding citizens in Ghana at all time, both at home ,offices and business circle.”
he added that his sole business here is to strengthen the bond of friendship and bilateral relationship for mutual understanding and cooperation between Nigeria and Ghana, and also for social welfare and protection of Nigerians here in Ghana “I am not here for crime issues that will not promote the image of our company Nigeria, as your slogan stated ALL FOR ONE ONE FOR ALL this means that you are ambassadors to each other, so always be your brother’s keeper” The Ambassador concluded..
Chief Chukwuemeka Nnaji the President of NUTAG lauded the Amb. Abikoye for his timely advice and word of wisdom to them and assured him that they will send the message across to members and Nigerians at large. He commended the Nigerian High Commissioner for leaving his busy schedule and coming to listen to their plight under a very short notice which includes heavy taxes, GIPC Law and harmonic co-operation with their Ghanaian counterparts GUTA.
Mr. Evaristus Nwankwo the national secretary of NUTAG gave a vote of thanks by saying “lets give honour to whom honour is due, Amb. Olukoye from his words and action is a Man of peace, a man of the people.
