World Igbo Development Initiative (WIDI), an economic and investment think tank geared towards driving the much needed economic renaissance of the south east of Nigeria has adopted an economic and community development lecture dubbed ”Aku ruo ulo” as one of their strategies to propagate the economic potentials of the eastern zone of Nigeria to the global community and same time sensitize Igbos world over on the need to also think home in their investment plans.
The director of strategy and planning of WIDI Mr.Amaobi Madu stated that the idea of WIDI is one that is overdue. “globalisation has created the chance for everyone to sale himself to the world regardless of his or her location,with the power of social media a second is the only separating China from Ohafia or Abakiliki , so its time bring together like mind’s to forge a common front for Igbo cause and identity through the development of the Igbo race and her lands and WIDI with local and global affiliation of its founders is a very formidable platform willing to serve in order to enable the advancement of the Igbo people’s cause and economic development of the region.”
he added that,the WIDI initiative apart from its developmental lecture series is poised to encourage the development of Igbo land with several other packages which will include research and forecasting on impending investment breakouts in south east that will yield massive returns to potential investors, memorializing the forerunners of socio-economy development of the zone via culture, education, trade, governance, and other means.
Mr.Madu expressed that WIDI is interested in engaging with Ministry of Trade and Investment Nigeria,south east governors as well ,in creating and developing modern incentives that will attract and drive multi-nationals to the zone ,he also commended Managing directors of industries and factories operating in the zone especially PZ for having faith in the south east of Nigeria and setting up an industry in Aba over 5 decades ago.
In closing he implored the federal government of Nigeria to improve in security thereby creating an enabling environment for development to thrive in the region and the country at large.
